How to Register a U.S. Trademark From Saudi Arabia: Step-by-Step
A practical walkthrough for Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar-based applicants.
Many Saudi founders want to reserve a brand name in the U.S. before they've formally launched there. Here's how that works, step by step.
Step 1: Decide your filing basis
If you're already selling in the U.S., your application is based on actual use. If not yet, an intent-to-use application lets you file based on a genuine plan to use the mark later.
Step 2: Search for existing conflicts
A preliminary search checks for identical or clearly similar marks. Retail and F&B brand names are often contested, so consider our detailed search for extra confidence before you invest in packaging, signage or franchise materials.
Step 3: Define your goods/services and class
Be specific about what you're protecting — a restaurant concept, a retail product line, or a franchise brand each map to different Nice classes.
Step 4: Prepare applicant information
You'll need your Saudi commercial registration details (if applying under a company), your business address, and your intended use plans.
Saudi Arabia-domiciled applicants must be represented by a U.S.-licensed attorney before the USPTO. We coordinate this as part of our service — see our foreign-applicant guide.
Step 5: File and pay the USPTO fee
The government fee is $350 per class, separate from our $150 service fee.
Step 6: Monitor your case
We track your application and notify you of Office Actions or other relevant developments.
